Indonesian Chemical Society of NTT

History

Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI) The East Nusa Tenggara was officially established in 2022. The establishment of this branch is part of an effort to expand the network of professional organizations for chemists in Indonesia while strengthening the role of the scientific community in the East Nusa Tenggara region in the advancement of chemistry.

The inauguration of the NTT Branch of HKI was carried out through an endorsement by the then Chair of the HKI Central Office, Prof. Dr. Syukro Muhab, at an academic event—namely the National Seminar of the Chemistry Program and the Chemistry Education Program—which focused on the theme “Innovations in Chemistry Research and Education in the New Normal Era.” The national seminar served as an important opportunity for academics and chemistry professionals in East Nusa Tenggara to strengthen collaboration and establish a professional organization to represent chemists in the region.

The idea to establish the NTT Branch of HKI was initiated by faculty members from the Chemistry Program, Faculty of Science and Engineering at Nusa Cendana University. This initiative arose from the recognition of the importance of a professional organization capable of bringing together academics, researchers, educators, and practitioners in the field of chemistry to collaborate, share knowledge, and develop scientific potential at both the regional and national levels.

Following a joint deliberation process, the executive board of the NTT Branch of HKI was formed for its first term, spanning 2022–2026. During this term, Prof. Philiphi de Rozari, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D was appointed as the first Branch Chair, accompanied by Dr. Johnson Nune Naat, S.Pd., M.Si who serves as Secretary.

Since its establishment, the NTT Branch of the Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI) has continuously strived to strengthen the organization’s role as a platform for chemists in East Nusa Tenggara to collaborate, share ideas, and promote the development of chemistry that benefits society. Through various scientific activities, academic discussions, and the strengthening of professional networks, the HKI NTT Branch is committed to continuing to contribute to the advancement of chemistry while supporting regional and national development.
